My Friend Meena!

Me, Meena and Michele
On Saturday night, I was invited to a traditional Afghanistan Henna Party to celebrate, my friend and teaching partner, Meena's upcoming nuptials. It was an amazing experience!  I learned so much about the Afghanistan culture and enjoyed my first taste of their food.  Little did I know, Meena is quite the dancer.  The highlight of the night, Meena did a traditional Afghanistany dance for her fiancee.  It moved me to tears, it was so beautiful!  I have loved working with her this year and I will miss her dearly as she is moving to South Dakota to start her new life with her fiancee.

Mother's Day

Momma and her babies

Sheri, our lovely daycare provider, made these with the kids.  I loved them!! So precious!

My Momma!  I am so lucky to have her so close!

Well, today was "the day".  We found out our scores.  The good news...we grew 18 points from last year, the most in the district and we are not the school on the bottom of the list. That was exciting!  Plus, the superintendent would like to meet with the third grade team because she is so pleased!  The bad news...we were still only at 50% proficient and advanced.  We still have a lot of work to do!  But I confident we can do it!

On another positive note, Collin went poo poo on the potty for the first time on Monday night!! Yeah!  Now we just need to get more proactive with his pottying.  Only 11 days left of school and I will be able to do that!

It is hard to believe that it is May already.  There are only 14 days left of school.  It is nice that the school year is nearly over but it is a busy and stressful time of year.  The beginning and the end are always the hardest.  There is so much to do!!  An added stress right now is the looming third grade TCAP (the state assessment for CO) results.  My team and I worked so hard to move these kids, I hope the results reflect it.

Lanie and Collin are so silly and wild!  They sure keep us busy!  I miss Collin sleeping in his crib!!  What I really miss is full nights of sleep!  Some nights he stays in his bed all night and others he is up three to four times!!  AHHH!!  I forgot how tired disrupted sleep makes me.  I think it makes me pretty crabby too!  No, I know it does.  Darn it!  Everyday he says more and more words.  He copies all of the good and bad things that Lanie does too!

This morning, Lanie was looking through her very messy room for a shoe.
I said, "You could probably find it, if your room wasn't so messy."
Her reply, "You don't talk about that mess."

Then I was washing the floor with a bucket and rag.
Lanie, "Cinderella washes the floor like that.  Can I try!"
I doubt she will still want to help in a couple of years.  Darn it!

It was quite warm yesterday so the kids got to take a dip in mom's pool for the first time this year!  They had a blast!

Lanie's messy room...oh, don't you talk it about!

John and the Kids surprised me with some flowers.  Ones that will last all summer!

We put Grandma to work on the sewing machine.  Collin's 34 year old blanket needed some repairs if it is going to make it to 40 years.
