Trick or Treat, Grandma Susan

Trick or Treat, Papa & GG

HAHAHAHA

I love pics of the kids on the steps!

CJ was supposed to be a lion but was not too keen on putting the costume on over his head so alas the zip up dog costume. Thanks Urichs for providing it for him!

Funny Babies!

Lanie was reading and telling Collin and me stories tonight. She is such a little ham sometimes. So funny too! She is a little sponge right now. She remembers everything and is learning so fast. I love watching her grow and change.

Playing in the Snow

School was cancelled because of power outages and heavy snow so we are all hanging out together at home. We ventured outside after breakfast. Boy, getting the kids bundled up is a lot of work. I planned on getting Collin some winter boots before the first snow but that didn't seem to happen...he had to wear pink ones today. Hee, hee. We tried to build a snowman but the snow wasn't quite wet enough. We had to settle with snow angels. The kids had so much fun they didn't want to come in.

Snow day

This is what we woke to this morning. I of course was up at 3:30 thanks to my delightful daughter. I couldn't sleep so I headed outside to help out our trees which were covered in ice and 4+ inches of very heavy snow. This snow is AWESOME for making snowmen. Guess what we are doing after breakfast?!!
Snow day for us!

October 24

Collin trying to change his baby's diaper. I asked him if his baby tried to run away like he does to me. That's when he put his baby on the table. Maybe he was trying to tell me we need to change him on the table.
For the last week or so, Lanie has been getting up in the middle of the night and either sleeping on the floor in our room or sleeping on the couch. We do not want to encourage this behavior but she has had a slight chest cold and we felt bad so we let it continue. Tonight at dinner we discussed with Lanie how important it is for her to stay in her own bed all night. John said, "Well, Lanie are you going to sleep in your bed all night tonight"? Her reply with her hands in the air, "You never know". Oh these kids are so silly, where do they come up with this stuff?!!

Pumpkin Carving

Our pumpkins....daddy did most of the work since the kids attention span is quite short. My favorite part...the pumpkin seeds, yum!! Thanks to my friend, Jessica and her blog I knew exactly how to make them! Delicious!

Happy birthday to Grandma Susan today!

Imagination!

Today was a day of resourceful playing...building forts, making beds on the floor and playing with an empty diaper box. These games occupied most of the day. Needlesss to say, there were a lot of messes to clean up this evening. I am tired!

18 Months

No staging involved...he loves books.

About two minutes after I took the picture, he clubbed LK over the head. There's never a dull moment around here.

Daddy took Collin to his 18 month well baby check this past week. Dr. K says he is in tip top shape and growing well! Height: 34 inches, 85 percentile & Weight: 25 lbs, 38 percentile....tall and skinny. He seems to be accomplishing one of the developmental benchmarks quite proficiently...he is pretty amazing at saying, NO! He continues to be a delightful child. Sheri's husband even calls him, Smiley!

October 13

The kids love to color. Collin is pretty good at coloring his hands and face as well.
Papa & GG gave the kids a giant spider web and spiders to decorate. We put it up last weekend and the kids loved it. My mom hid some of the spiders around the house and Collin LOVES to point them out and laugh! He goes from room to room with us in tow.

Lanie being, ummmm... resourceful, and helping herself to some ice.

Lanie is very excited for Halloween this year. She is going to dress up like Cinderella and been talking about it every day. Most likely, Collin will be a lion....ROAR!!

Pumpkin Patch

Every since the pumpkin patch opened two weeks ago, Lanie has been wanting to go. Today was the day. I was hoping for decent weather...wrong. We woke to rain and 41 degrees, not the best pumpkin pickin' conditions but I am from MN and I have seen worse in October. I got out our jeans, coats, hats and mittens and the whole family was off to the patch. Lanie picked out two little pumpkins and two medium sized. Even though it was FREEZING, we still had fun!

Lanie has been real funny lately and comes up with some pretty funny stuff. Every night when I pick her up from Sheri's I ask her about her day. Last week, when I asked her if they played any games she replied, "We played naughty." Hmmm...I thought. Then Sheri jumped in and said they had played the game, Trouble, the one with the dice inside the dome. Hahaha.

Madelyn Nichols born July 1, already big enough to sit in the Bumbo!

In 1987, my mother and I moved to Little Falls, MN after my mom got a new job. I started school a couple of weeks into the school year, 5th grade as a matter of fact. I met Jessica that first day and little did I know that 24 years later we would still be the best of friends. Even though there has always been many miles between us, we always seem to keep in touch and every visit picks up like the last left off. This past week she was in Denver and I was able to go down to visit and meet her new baby girl, Madelyn. It was a great visit as always. She is such a wonderful person and I am lucky to have her in my life!

I think we need more boy toys in this house! Haha!

That's more like it!

Tonight little Blake came over for a visit. Lanie loves to hold babies!

Today we went to Denver to listen to Reverend Charles Kinyon aka Papa give a little sermon at church. The kids did a really great job listening and loved running up and down all the ramps at the church but the highlight of the day was offering. Chuck had given the kids goodie bags of treats before the service. Inside the bag, a couple of peanut M&M's as well as other treats. When the offering plate came by, Collin ever so gently placed his peanut from inside his M&M into the collection plate. Pretty funny!
