Aw, man...I met with my principal yesterday to discuss my maternity leave. I plan on returning on September 2. It is all too soon but I don't want to use all of my sick days in case we need to take some time off later in the year. I am going to work a teacher work day on August 8 and the first day of school August 14. I sure am fretting about leaving Lanie...August 8 is next week! We are going to head down to Canon City tomorrow for our first real outing and overnight. John's buddy, Billy, is getting married. It is just another thing for me to worry about. Will she cry in the car the whole trip down there?? Will she behave during the ceremony?? How will we do being away from the comfort of home?? Oh, jeez. I will let you know how it went down on Sunday.
Tomorrow Lanie will be three weeks old already !!! Crazy!!

Tubby Time

Lanie had her first bath this evening. She smells so good! She didn't even seem to mind it. The boys are so funny sometimes. Chip just loves to get up in her face. Buzzy likes to lie and protect her.

Lanie's little nubby umbilical cord fell of last night. Oh, what fun! Look at that cute belly button!

Daddy is out of town and we tried to go on a walk...bad idea...we only got to the sidewalk. Lanie was not having it. She was too crabby. Buzz came in the house and pouted. He LOVES his walks. I guess the dogs will just have to tough it out one day.

8 pounds, 2 ounces

I had Lanie weighed today at the breast feeding clinic. The doctor wanted to see her back to her birth weight and luckily she is back. She weighed in at a whopping 8 pounds, 2 ounces. She has been a good little eater lately. Her belly button is barely hanging on. Mommy and Daddy are very excited to give her a bath. John asked if we were going to save it. I said for what. He said to put in her scrapbook...oh yeah right. No thanks, it kinda grosses me out. Besides...what scrapbook? I can barely find time to get the laundry done.

Auntie Mary & Uncle Ray came to visit little Lanie this weekend so she has been very spoiled and held a lot. Mary changed diapers and fed her a lot...good practice for Baby Ray Ray's arrival in September. Lanie's belly button is very close to coming off so a real bath is in the near future.

Two Weeks Old

Today Lanie is two weeks old! I can't believe how fast the time has gone by. When I was pregnant it felt the like the days dragged on and now they fly by. She really keeps me busy. I guess I never anticipated how much laundry there would be, how often she eats, how many diapers she really can dirty in one day (OMG!), and how much you can love someone. John and I are truly blessed to have Lanie!
This one is from yesterday but she is so darn cute I had to put it on here.

Snuggles from my puppy dog, Chip.

Super Fun Play Date

The Mommas: Elizabeth, Kim & Me

Lanie had her first play date today. Kyler, Abby and Luke came over to play: Kyler is Elizabeth's boy & Abby and Luke are my friend, Kim's twin. Kyler is four weeks and Abby and Luke are three months. It was not only great for Lanie but wonderful for Mommy to talk to other mommas. My friends, Jenn and Annmarie, also visited. We all had a wonderful afternoon!!

Grandma's Last Night with Lanie
Cutie Baby
Blankie Time with Buzz
Goin' for a Ride on Chippie
Too Cute
Obviously I am getting some use out our camera. A little update...yesterday Lanie had her 2nd PKU test and all is well with that. We also took her to get weighed and she is gaining about an ounce a day which is what the doctors like to see. She currently weighs 7lb 10oz and probably won't be back at 8lbs by Friday but as long as she keeps a steady gain the doctor will be happy. We have found that she is kinda cranky in the late evening. Unfortunately, it is usually when Daddy is getting home from work and wants to spend time with her and all she likes to do is be a crabster. Hopefully that goes away. Our little friend, Chip, got a foxtail grain stuck in his foot and has been a little trooper this past week. He tried his darndest to get it out himself and now has two holes in his foot...gross. He is at the vet today to get it out. Check your dogs after you walk them...those little things are a painful for your dog and a pain because they don't usually come out on their own. Hopefully he doesn't have to wear a cone on his head although those are great pictures 'cause dogs look kinda funny with them on.

Baptism

The family got together yesterday at Chuck and Glenda's to baptize little Lanie. Chuck performed the ceremony and used water from the River Jordan that he had a collected on a trip many years ago. Lanie was very lucky to wear a beautiful christening gown from my Step Mom Patti's family. She did very well and even stayed awake to listen to most of what Grandpa said about her.

Grandpa Kinyon got suckered into buying the hospital pictures and I have to admit, I am glad that he did. They are pretty darn adorable. Daddy fed Lanie her first bottle today. It took some getting use to by both of them but they both did great.

One Week Old

I can't believe a week has gone by already. I guess time does fly when you are having fun. We are really enjoying our new baby girl. Thus far she has been a super baby. She sleeps really well and is only fussy when she is tired. She is growing fast too. She has already outgrown her newborn sleepers. It is great to watch John hold her and talk to her...it's just sweet. So here are some more pictures from the camera happy Momma.

Here's some pictures of the giddy grandparents:

Grandmas Susan, Glenda & Patti

Grandpas Chuck & Randy

Grandma came today to visit from MN. Now all the grandparents have held little Lanie. She is loving all the attention. She pulled a funny today as I like to call it...actually two. She had her first big doo doo. John screamed from the bedroom and freaked me out. I went in only to find a dirty diaper and grossed out husband. Then this afternoon she had another blowout and still wasn't done when I was changing her. It was too funny! What a mess.

Be patient...

Napping in the bouncer

Sorry friends and family if I have not returned your calls. We have been very busy. We had to go the doctor, breastfeeding clinic and vet today. Being a mom sure is a demanding job! I hope to have some more time in the coming days as my mom will be visiting and can help around the house. I hope for you all to be able to meet Lanie in the next couple of weeks. I will try to post new pics of her though.

Labor of Love

What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger....
I suppose that is how we could look at the labor of our child. It was rough but it is over and we are doing great! Just a little update if you care to know how it all went down. On Thursday morning, I woke at 2am on my tenth trip to the restroom to find mucus (gross) so I thought my mucus plug was done for. Then I couldn't sleep for two hours , I thought this could be the day OR it could still be next week. At 6:20am I was woken up by a gush. I definitely didn't pee my pants. I didn't freak out. I wasn't totally sure that my water had broke yet. We decided to proceed as usual and walk our dogs...bad idea. I got about a block and half away and had to tear home. Luckily no one was up in neighborhood. They could have had a chuckle...the pregnant lady peed her pants. That was when I decided to call the doctor. He said to head over the hospital. We arrived in Greeley at 8:30am. We were admitted and then we waited, waited, waited. I was only dialated 1.5cm. Nieve us, thought we would be having a kid by noon or early afternoon. HA! My dialation was a very slow process. John spent many hours pacing. It was very boring. At 10pm, I was still only an 8 and that was with being on a pitocin drip all day. I know, super frustrating. Thank you the epidural!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!! A little before midnight was finally show time, I thought. After an hour and a half of pushing the doctor said you have three options: 1. keep pushing but I know you are tired 2. keep pushing and use the vacuum 3. Cesarean. I wasn't going to give into the c-section after all this work unless absolutely necessary. We went with pushing and vacuum. It was still tough to get her out and she didn't cry when she came out. They rushed her over to the table and started working on her. It was so scary. I started crying. At least she had her daddy by her side. Finally she was all suctioned out and we got to hold her. That was amazing! At this point, it was 3am. It was time to call the parents and I was starving. We finally got to our room at 4:30 only to get up 6am. I haven't been up that long for a very long time. I was exhausted! We all were. So the labor was very long and arduous but the reward, our perfect little girl, makes it all worth it.

Oh, she pulled another funny stinker move...I was getting her ready for bed last night and she peed on the changing table again. The cool air must trigger her to go. I had a good chuckle. She is pretty good sleeper. Last night, she only got up at 2:30 but she feeds for 40-50 minutes at a time. We went for a walk again this morning and she was perfect. Today our "big" plans are to head over to the breastfeeding clinic in Greeley to reassure mommy that she is doing OK. Tomorrow, another big day, we are going to see the pediatrician here in Johnstown. On Wednesday, Grandma is coming from MN for a visit.

Two Days Old

So far, so good. Lanie is doing really well and has finally figured out how to latch on and be a good little eater as well as diaper destroyer. It seems like we no sooner change her and oops she did it again. We went on our first walk as a family this morning. It felt really good to get out of the house and enjoy the fresh air. She really seemed to enjoy it, as well. Let us know if you want to come over and check out her cute little cheeks!

Lanie's car ride home from the hospital. I hope she changes her mind about the car!

Welcome to the world, Lanie Kay!

We are home from the hospital, yes! I am just going to post a couple of pictures and I will update more later. Lanie is doing really well but right now she is crying her little head off for Daddy so I must go assist.
